Location: Aqua Octaviana Bali Villa
I am lucky to be here in Bali and experience a real Balinese ceremonial blessing. We have been staying at the wonderful Aqua Octaviana Bali Villa and every year they prepare rituals and offerings to give thanks and to get rid of evil spirits. Bali is the islands of the Gods and it's so amazing to get to know their rich culture. By the way, how do you like my traditional Balinese dress we picked for the ceremony?
Did you know the Balinese add water to bamboo sticks and place it on a fire? When the bamboo sticks starts banging and exploding, it is to chase the evil spirits away.

In two days, on March 28 the Balinese celebrate Nyepi, the day of silence. that is commemorated every Saka new year according to the Balinese calendar. It is a Hindu celebration which includes a day of complete silence, fasting, and meditation.
For twenty-four hours the island is completely closed with no flights coming in. Grocery and department stores are closed and nobody is allowed outside their home or hotel, either on foot, motorbikes or cars. After sunset, curtains are remained to be closed and lights are off. The day after Nyepi there are many religious rituals and celebrations as it is celebrated as New Year's day.
What I love about Bali is that the island is so authentic and the Balinese are the only people in the world celebrating their New Year like this. In my opinion very unique.
I hope I will be able to shoot some photos during the festivities and share here on the blog, so you guys can get an idea.
Enjoy a fabulous Sunday everyone and thanks for stopping by.
With love Tamara Chloé
