How To Wear The Floral Trend The Cool Way

February 25, 2017

The floral trend remains and it's here to stay!

Not everyone will reach for a floral peace when it comes to dressing, mainly because it hits the dreamy and "girly girl" department. But let me tell you a statement piece in this print can look really effortless and cool. You just need to pair it with the right items. Keep on reading on how to rock the floral trend like a cool girl.

Try to keep in mind that you always want to add fierceness to smooth out the girly-girl vibe of the floral pattern.

1: Wear with distressed jeans.

The more distressed, the merrier. I love a good pair of ripped jeans because they turn every outfit into something real trendy. You can never go wrong wearing distressed jeans with a floral piece. So go ahead and DIY another pair of your favorite jeans.

2: Add the right hue.

Think army green, black, brown, rusty orange, and burgundy. These colors bring out the floral print and add that extra edge instead of appearing too sweet.

3: Pair it with bossy materials:

Leather, velvet, denim, or even lace and fur for a sexy boss-lady twist. For example; wear a floral dress with a black leather jacket for that rock & roll feel. A lace pencil skirt with a floral blouse is perfect for on the job.

4: Add the right accessories:

Pair your floral look with a baseball cap, chunky silver or gold jewelry and mirrored oversized sunnies. How about a hooded sweater paired with floral jeans and add a fedora hat? The results scream: fabulous!

5: Wear it the sporty way.

How about mixing a floral crop top with a pair of casual joggers? Wear a floral skirt with some good ole Adidas sneakers and a bomber jacket. The possibilities are endles.

6: Wear it with another bold print.

You might not think you can mix a flower print with other patterns, but the opposite is true. A clean floral print can look fabulous with, polka dots, stripes or even a bold leopard print. Trust your instinct when mixing and matching. Make sure you pick one big print and one small print to go together. For example, if you have a skirt with a large floral pattern, try pairing it with a thin-striped top. Also, make sure to repeat colors. Repeating colors is the way to help prints complement each other instead of clashing. Colors can pull two completely different prints together and make them look like they were made for each other!

7: Finnish it with a fabulous pair of shoes.

Hello, combat boots, studded sneakers,  over-the-knee boots, killer heels, embroidered flat sandals, cowboy boots, platforms. They all look amazing with floral pieces. Remember that mixing floral patterns is a lot easier than you might think. Dare to think out of the box. Try different things and create contrast for some kick-ass clothing combinations!
